Quick FAQs
|
|
- Are there any documents pre-loaded
into XISOX?
You can get XISOX with or without pre-loaded template documents. The optional template
documentations we offer are Jack Kanholm’s systems for ISO 9001, ISO 14001,
TS 16949, and ISO 13485. When pre-loaded into XISOX, these template documentations are specially
adapted to seamlessly reside in the XISOX software (Jack Kanholm is also the architect
of XISOX).
- Can I use XISOX to also control other
categories of documents?
In XISOX you can divide documents into 25 different categories and control user
viewing access for each individual document. These features make XISOX suitable
for controlling all types of documents, such as specifications, parts lists, tutorials,
manuals, presentations, etc. Just create appropriate categories, upload the documents,
and set viewing permissions to protect sensitive or confidential information.
- Can I use XISOX to control documents
in other media?
XISOX can control documents in any media, whether an electronic file, CD disk, paper,
photograph, or a workmanship sample.
- How does XISOX control paper documents?
For paper, CD disk, and other hard media documents, XISOX controls the document
by maintaining the document’s control record and distribution list.
- What types of files can be uploaded
to XISOX?
All documents that need to be viewed directly from XISOX must be PDF (Adobe Acrobat
Reader) files. You can also upload to the server the editable master application
files from which the PDF files were made. The master files can be in any format.
(Refer to Tutorials>>Making
PDF Files).
- Can I have multiple revisions of the
same document?
Yes. You can have one 'Active' revision and unlimited number of 'Archive' and 'Draft'
revisons.
- What does it take to migrate an existing
system into XISOX?
You just save your documents as PDF files, create a document control record for
each document, and upload the files to the server. This will take between three
to five minutes per document. You don’t have to migrate with your corrective actions,
audits, management reviews, etc. Just start creating records for these activities
from this point on. (Refer to
Tutorials>>Making PDF Files).
- Do you offer training for using the
software?
XISOX is so simple and intuitive to use that instructor-provided training is not
necessary. The best place to start the training is by watching the Demo Movies available
from this site ( click
here). Also, there are very good, context sensitive help pages available
in the software itself.
- What kind of instructions, help and
tutorials are available?
Start learning how to use the software by watching the Demo Movies available on
this site ( click
here). They show how to do most of the things in all the modules. When you
start using the software, there are help pages associated with every form and task.
Just click on the Help button in the sidebar or on the form itself. You can also
download the whole User Manual available in the Support pages of this site.
- Is there a phone support available?
Yes, you can call us at 800 600 3601 or 626 796 9000 any work day between 9 am and
5 pm Pacific, or send email to support@xisox.com. You will always get a reply within
24 hours.
- What are the system requirements to
run the Intranet software?
- Windows 2000, XP, Server or Vista with IIS 5.1 or later.
- If not already present, Framework 2.0 and SQL Server 2005 CE installs automatically
with software.
- Optional SQL Server 2005 Express or heigher (if you don't want to use the embedded
SQL Server 2005 CE)
- What browser and software are required
on user computers?
- Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2 or later
- Adobe (Acrobat) Reader 7.0 or later
- How often you back up the Web-based
systems?
We back up the databases every day in three different ways: on a network drive located
on a different server; on an automated backup system located in another data center;
and on our redundant standby system in Delaware. To learn more about our servers
and systems please click
here.
